Daniel Rossen Covers Judee Sill

I've never been a Judee Sill fan. That's not to say I don't feel bad that she died at a young age in 1979, but I've just never been all that enthused about her music. With that being said, this post is about Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles' Daniel Rossen throwing down on her upcoming tribute album with a cover of "Waterfall". As you can imagine, since everything Rossen has touched in the last 18 months has turned to gold, this track is a good time. For those interested in the album as a whole, unfortunatley, Crayon Angel: A Tribute to the Music of Judee Sill is not out until September 22nd via American Dust. And contrary to Stereogum's thoughts on the matter, it's not "odd" that Fleet Foxes is absent from this tribute. It was a purposeful snub, because Fleet Foxes aren't good enough to be a part of a tribute album. Nor are they good enough to be a part of most of the things they've been made a part of, but that's a rant for a different day. Check out Daniel Rossen's contribution, courtesy of the aforementioned Stereogum.
