Song: Forever (ft. Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Eminem)
Artist: Drake
Album: Music Inspired by More Than A Game
Year: 2009
Normally I wouldn't highlight an artist here twice in a month, or talk about music from a soundtrack, however, I think you'll be glad I did after hearing this song. Drake's upcoming release, Thank Me Later has already clinched a spot as one of the most anticipated debuts of 2010, and with this single appearing on it as well, it may be number one on my list. Teaming up with Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, and Eminem in a collaboration rivaling "Swagga Like Us", we have our first look at what may be in store.
Following the "Best I Ever Had" hit formula, Drake starts off by giving us a hook. From there he goes off on an autobiographical rant about his swift and sudden rise through the hip-hop ranks. Once he hands of the mic to his co-conspirators, we're met with a myriad of different styles. Kanye's verse is slightly regretful, Lil' Wayne does his usual, and Eminem appears to be under the impression that he's heading up some kind of hip-hop revolution. Whether that's true or not, the variety is what makes this song a unique and interesting listen. I'd say we'll be hearing this one for a while to come. Check it out below.
