I'm sure by this point, many have heard all about The XX. Lately, it seems as if the band has sort of taken the buzz wagon by storm, and not completely without good reason. The XX are a unique mix of R&B, electronic and new wave. It's a hipster's dream come true. Still, I think they're worth a listen, if for novelty value alone. Actually liking what you hear is completely your call. Still interested? The XX's debut album, XX, will be out next week, August 18th, via Rough Trade. If you're in the UK, you can stream the entire album over at NME. If not (like the large majority of readers here), you can listen to 30-second clips, which may still be worth it.
Animal Noises is a blog about music, both old and new, and how it stands up in the current music scene. The staff-- John, the editor, with contributions from Matt-- uses their various music backgrounds to intelligently discuss artists and albums, focusing on the good, while not avoiding the bad. We focus on sub-genres of rock, electronic music and hip hop, but don't be surprised to see the occasional wildcard too.
