Animal Collective, just months removed from releasing the critically-acclaimed Merriweather Post Pavillion, has already debuted at least two new songs during the live shows this year. The more recent of the two is "Bleed," which they introduced to the crowd in Washington D.C. last night. It's dark- a stark contrast from MPP, but still a fairly enjoyable track. However, if we do see it on the next Animal Collective record (probably out sometime next year, knowing them), I'm fairly certain it will not resemble what you hear in the mp3 below, courtesy of Stereogum.
Also, though we usually don't discuss live shows that we don't personally attend, just figured I'd also post up the streaming link from the band's show at the 9:30 Club in D.C., which Stereogum put up earlier in the day. Check it out here, at NPR.
Animal Noises is a blog about music, both old and new, and how it stands up in the current music scene. The staff-- John, the editor, with contributions from Matt-- uses their various music backgrounds to intelligently discuss artists and albums, focusing on the good, while not avoiding the bad. We focus on sub-genres of rock, electronic music and hip hop, but don't be surprised to see the occasional wildcard too.
