This week, we're looking to profile some of our favorite Brooklyn-based bands. As the current hub of indie music, Brooklyn has become a vibrant and ambition collection of artists. Many perform together, listen to each other's music and take cues from innovations they may develop. It's a true music scene, and it's just getting bigger and better each day. You're no doubt aware of all of these bands, but we think this list still serves a purpose. Check it out below.
Just as we did last year, we're happy to report the lineup for 2010's Coachella Festival. It's probably better than last year, depending on your vantage point. Among the most notable acts (according to this blog, not the festival) per day:
Once again, another list that's not necessarily the best of 2009, but in this case, we're looking at the most anticipated of 2010's releases. Obviously, none of these are completely guaranteed to come out next year. However, they've been at least hinted at, if not confirmed by the artists or labels, so I'd say that's about as reliable a source as we can get at this point. Enjoy the list below.
Kid Cudi makes a curious, but welcome choice for his third single off of the upcoming Man on the Moon: The End of Day. After releasing two pop hits in "Day 'n' Nite" and "Make Her Say," you'd think another one was definitely in the offering. However, Cudi shows why he's different here, going with one of the more experimental and slower tracks on the record. Plus, there's the surprising collaboration with indie darlings Ratatat and MGMT. It's just another reason why he's a different type of rapper than we're accustomed to, and he may just turn in the best hip-hop effort of 2009. You can stream the track for now over at SPIN.
